Director of Operations

Common Wealth is seeking a Director of Operations to join the Leadership team in support of our 35 staff, hundreds of residents in our housing portfolio, dozens of small businesses in our incubator community, and hundreds of youth and adults in our workforce development programs  This position involves supervising the general operations of the organization, guidance and mentorship of our team of Program Leads, and overall support of every programmatic aspect of the organization.  Compensation starts at $100K per year.  Common Wealth Development offers a $2000.00 language bonus (annually) for employees who are Bilingual in English and Spanish. 

Requirements:

  • At least 5 years of contiguous supervisory experience
  • Demonstrable experience and knowledge of conflict resolution, mediation, crisis management and de-escalation skills
  • Demonstrable experience in organizational finance
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritize tasks to meet deadlines, and multitask
  • Ability to work effectively both independently with minimal supervision and as a member of a team
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with residents, communities, and community partners
  • Strong writing skills and oral communication for providing quality customer service
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software
  • Experience working with people from low-income and racially diverse communities 
  • Have own vehicle, clean driving record and liability insurance

Desired Qualifications:

  • At least 10 years supervisory experience, with 5 years experience leading or supervising groups/teams of supervisors or leading people who serve in a supervisory capacity 
  • Lived experience with low-income housing, housing insecurity or racially diverse communities
  • Experience with WHEDA Tax Credit Compliance and HOME Program Regulations
  • Advanced knowledge of Racial Justice practices and principles, ideally in an organizational / HR context
  • Knowledge of fair housing practices
  • Knowledge of best practices in workforce development strategies for adults and youth
  • Knowledge and advanced understanding of leadership styles, practices and evaluation methods
  • Contextual familiarity of the community, political and social climate of Madison and Dane County.  
  • Bilingual, multilingual, or ESL
